I've finally gotten around to reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower after hearing everyone go crazy with the book and the movie. To be honest, after all the hype I was kind of let down by the book. The characters were kind of cute, but Charlie was just
so innocent and at times (most of the time) it's too much. Also, there were a ton of tough life issues throughout the book such as rape, abuse, and drugs but they're not dealt with at length. I believe this is because of the letter format of the book. This made me feel like the issues were just brushed under the rug and once they're talked about for a few sentences they no longer mattered.
The writing just lacked emotion and it made me feeling as if Charlie had no growth throughout the book. I probably won't be reading this book again which is disappointing since I really wanted to like this book.
